چکیده
In the April-June 2014 edition of the Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Davis et al1 published a comparison of clinical and economic outcomes for colectomies between standard laparoscopic and robot-assisted procedures. This study included 25 000 segmental colectomies, of which about 2% were carried out robotically. Robotic procedures showed a significantly higher economic burden and lengthened operative times. No differences were found in major, minor, and surgical complication rates.

Robotic-Assisted Versus Laparoscopic Colectomy: Cost and Clinical Outcomes
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic colectomies, with and without robotic assistance, are performed to treat both benign and malignant colonic disease. This study compared clinical and economic outcomes for laparoscopic colectomy procedures with and without robotic assistance. METHODS Patients aged ≥18 years having primary inpatient laparoscopic colectomy procedures (cecectomy, right hemic...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES To determine perioperative outcome differences in patients undergoing robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) versus conventional laparoscopic surgery (CLS) for advanced-stage endometriosis. METHODS This retrospective cohort study at a minimally invasive gynecologic surgery center at 2 academically affiliated, urban, nonprofit hospitals included all patients tre...
متن کاملRobot-Assisted Versus Standard Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Over the years, there has been a continual shift toward more minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as the use of laparoscopy in colorectal surgery. Recently, there has been increasing adoption of robotic technology. Our study aims to compare and contrast robot-assisted and laparoscopic approaches to colorectal operations. METHODS Forty patients undergoing lapa...

The economics of robotic prostatectomy are very important, considering the fact that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and radical prostatectomy is one of the main treatments for localized disease. The rapid adoption of robotic prostatectomy has resulted in the widespread availability of robotic systems and significant utilization by surgeons with little prior laparoscopic experi...
متن کاملComparison of robotically performed and traditional laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
INTRODUCTION Robotic laparoscopic surgery is postulated to result in better surgical results by allowing improved instrument manipulation and three-dimensional vision. The authors' experience performing robot-assisted laparoscopic colorectal surgery is reported. METHOD Standard laparoscopic procedures with robot-assisted laparoscopic colon mobilization and vascular ligation were performed. Da...
